My 40th Birthday

Postby Smitten on Sun Mar 01, 2009 7:01 pm

Some people may not think that turning 40 is something to celebrate but I intend to put a brave face on it and spend the whole of April celebrating my 40th.

So I would like to invite the Surrey Sobbers (and any other sobber that may wish to participate) to spend an evening or afternoon in the West End enjoying a meal and trip to the theatre. :D

I'm looking at any of the following dates:

Thursday 2nd April
Sunday 5th April
Wednesday 8th April
Thursday 9th April
Sunday 26th April
Monday 27th April

Can you let me know which days are good for you and then I can see what plays are available.

I'm particulary interested in seeing either Madame De Sade (with Judi Dench), The Mousetrap, On the Waterfront, The 39 Steps or Defending the Caveman.
Hopefully some of those will appeal to you all but I'm open to suggestions if anyone wants to see anything in particular or has a good recommendation?
Let me know what you think ladies :thanks

I think (without checking) that I am up for most of those dates.
I've never heard of Defending the Cavemean but I'd be up to seeing any of those. I've seen 39 Steps but it is brilliant (a real hoot) and I'd happily see it again.

Well I can do all those dates too.. I am assuming it would be an afternoon/evening thing, then I could go straight from work if it is a weekday...

Any play would suit me... I love plays and don't see enough.. I'd be very happy with any of them.. :D

What an excellent suggestion Lise.. :grin

Sundays would be good for me as I wouldn't need to arrange babysitting. Although, I'm sure my mum would have my kids if I asked her.

I've not seen any of those plays, so I don't mind. Alternatively, Wicked is very good. Lois and I saw it last week and we both enjoyed it.

Ok well I'll try for a Sunday then as it's easiest for Ann and see what's available.
It will probably be one of the later dates now as I've just heard that I have a date for the operation on my foot that I've been waiting a year for.
It's the 16th march and I'll be on crutches for 6 weeks! I won't be able to drive or anything so will be stuck in the house for most of the time.
I'll also be spending my actual 40th on crutches so no wild dance parties for me lol!

If anyone's at a lose end over the Easter period or any other date in the 6 weeks from 16th March please feel free to come and visit the poorly cripple!

Ooh, well if you'd like to come up for an afernoon birthday buffet perhaps, then you are all more than welcome :D I have been on crutches and housebound for nearly a week now and already I'm going stir crazy :yikes

I will be housebound until the end of April, so any day you like in April is fine with me apart from my actual birthday when I'm hoping SD will be pampering me :dunno
